Deer Mantel

Post by Lee Pruitt »

This my first mantel i've designed its 5' by 8". This is also the largest
piece I have cut with Cut3D.
I cut this first one in oak. It took 7 hours
with a .125 ball nose - 10% stepover.

I finished it with Tung Oil.

Excellent work Lee and nice to see your Sales Team in action.

What software did you use to model the piece?

Thanks for posting the picture.

Thanks -

I use a combination of software to model reliefs.
I use Depth Maps to get the height and use texture maps to get fine details.

I combine them in a mac program called Cheetah 3D. The Depth Map is applied as a
relief and the texture is applied as a displacement. Lots of bouncing back and forth between
Cheetah and Photoshop to get it right.
