Shower Room Floor

A customer asked me if I could produce a sloping sub floor, for him to tile over, for a bathroom shower cubical.

I thought this was an opportunity for me to create a 3d model and machine it with cut3d.

The size was just over 6' x 3'. I used 19mm ply. The cross section goes from 19mm down to 2mm at the lowest point.

I used a 16mm dia. end-mill with a 30% step-over, no roughing just a single finishing pass. Then cut-out.

Total time cutting 1 hr.

I know it isn't anything special to look at but it just goes to show that we don't have to be producing beautiful pieces of work all the time to make money.

BTW. I charged him £180.00 or 360 US.

Hi Tony,

I used Rhino version 1.1
I have had it for years but never done any 3d modelling before.
I have used it only to convert the many different file formats that customers send me to translate them into something useable.
You wouldn't believe what cr*p some people send and expect you to sort out. So thumbs up for that.

As I said I have never done any 3d modelling with it in the past but within an hour I got it sorted and saved it as an stl.

Must try a little more now, it's so easy.
