parameter incorrect

Hi, I'm hoping someone can answer this. I just bought and installed cut3d. I can open the sample files but when I try to open a dxf or stl file, I get a parameter incorrect message. I guess I've been staring at this screen too long and my brain is mush - but what parameter is the message referring to?

Where are the files from?
