Roughing Toolpath "Profile - None"

Post by PrecisionPeaks »

Hi all. Very basic question. On the Roughing Toolpath screen under Toolpath Parameters, I have two strategies listed (Z Level and 3D Raster). Under Z Level, there is a drop-down box labeled "Profile." The options in the drop-down box are First, Last and None. Can somebody explain what happens if I select None? Thanks so much.

The roughing toolpath will go backwards and forwards a bit like ploughing a field. The profile option will cause the tool to go around the edge of the roughed areas and smooth out the scallops left at the edges by the ploughing motion. If the profile option is set to No then this will leave the scallops behind and may leave extra material that could cause problems for a small finishing tool.

If you click on the Help Contents in the Help menu in Cut3D the various options are covered there.
