Finishing a 3D project

Post by hanksor »

I hope I'm posting this in the correct area. I'm new to creating 3D projects and I was wondering what might be the "easiest" way to remove all the cut marks from the ball nose finishing bit. Anyone have a "trick of the trade" they would want to share?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
I've cut it three times and it's still too short...

Although it will increase the carving time a lot, you can use a much smaller step over value to get a smoother cut. Might use a smaller bit as well? The preview function will really let you see the results and trade offs between time, step over, and bit size to minimize the final sanding and finishing. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll give it a try on the next go 'round. I'm using an 1/8" ball nose for my finishing bit.

Try a 8% stepover...or even 6% no sanding required.
