Z axis resolution problem

Post by triggerhover »

Hi all.
I have problem with Z axis resolution, during finishing path calculation. This is especially visible when using end mill and 45deg strategy.
Please take look at the picture. Cut3d creates steps instead of smooth lines.

For some reasons it is preferable for me to use end mill during finishing path. Picking X or Y strategy seems to fix problem... but creates several steps on smooth surface...

Probably the reason of this problem is fixed and low resolution (horizontal distance after which Z axis is refreshed) .

Is there any way to improve smoothness of finishing paths?

For the best finish you should be using a ball nose cutter with a stepover of about 8 to 10%
