I would like to carve some 2" thick foam board. Can someone suggest a 1/4" diameter bit for my Colt router I could/should use?
Thanks

Try here:
http://www.bqtool.com/extra-length-ball ... mills.html
Cut 2" depth in one 3D finish pass with 1/4" BN.
This was a mold for a cement lion head.

Mike,
Thanks for the new tool source! I only see 1 1/2" flute length on a 1/4" Ballnose. How are you cutting the full 2" depth (or are you just not cutting all the way down?)
I'm liking the looks of that 3/8" bit with a 3" flute and 6" OAL. Would be real handy for my foam carvings! I think I know what I'll be getting for Christmas this year!

Re: 2" Thick Foam Bit
Since the lion's face was concave, the 1/2" of non-fluted shaft never touched the side wall. With foam, I don't think it would have mattered anyway.I only see 1 1/2" flute length on a 1/4" Ballnose. How are you cutting the full 2" depth (or are you just not cutting all the way down?)

Mike,
I know what you mean! I used to chase my bits around the foam with my hot knife (I paused the machine before I reached across it...) until I realized it was a waste of time.

You could use a 52-564 from Onsrud Cutter: 1/4" CED & 2 1/4" CEL made for foam. Happy cutting!
