There may be fewer posts in a week than for VCP or Aspire (fewer users? fewer complicated options?), but every post that asks a question seems to get answered in short order.

Was there something causing you difficulty?

nothing specific Paul. i'm just trying to decide on software that i can afford and will advance me a little farther than vector art machine. cut3d looks like it might fit the bill. at my age it is a struggle to learn all the techno babble that is assigned to the whole CNC process. even with no electronics background building the machine was by far the easy part of the project for me. appreciate all the support from you folks . Best thing is to download a trial of each product and see what it does. Cut3D is great for what it does but if you want to do more than cut 3D shapes that someone else has made then it's hard to beat VCarve. Using that in combinations with VAM opens up another world of possibilities.

It's all down to what you want to make at the end of the day.

Hello Dan,

Here is a link to the free trial downloads.
http://www.vectric.com/downloads/trial-software.html

These trials are not limited in their design/import tools so you can take your time trying out the design aspects of the software.

It is also very important to use the free trial projects to export Gcode and confirm your CNC machine setup is compatible before purchase.
Particularly as you have a home made CNC machine.

I do hope you enjoy using the trials and are happy with them.
