adding tabs

Post by janz »

I am working on the ships wheel (#22 in symb & icons collection) I have added the tabs around the outside
but cant figure out how to add tabs on the inside (between the spokes) cutout (waste). Every time I try it
adds the tab across the rim to the outside edge, instead of spanning the cutout between the spokes. It seems
easy enough to do but I can't figure out how.
Thanks
janz

Make sure the vectors aren't grouped.

Tried to drag but cut 3d doesn't support? Ungroup vectors is not supported in cut 3d.

I do not believe that you can add stopped tabs in Cut3d, which is what you are finding. One way to get them is to import the roughing and finishing toolpaths into VCarvePro and then create the cutout toolpaths there with the tabs where desired.

As far as I can tell cut 3d only lets you add tabs to the edges of the material.
I am looking for stopped tabs? correct terminology.

Stopped tabs was my way of describing the tabs that don't go all the way to the edges. Cut3d will only let you make a tab that goes to one of the edges, you have the choice of which edge. It should be possible to start a tab on the left side of the model and head it to the right edge and have it pass through one or more internal islands.

That was what I though So much for that project. Glad I'm only using this for hobby.
