Change layout of part on table

Post by Mr.Chips »

The part I need to cut is too big for my table but if I can position it on a diagonal it will fit.
What is the procedure for doing this?
Thanks
HH

You can select all in your drawing and then rotate everything to fit the table.

Here's a brief summary of the steps. First, draw a rectangle that is the size of your cnc worktable. Next, select everything in your drawing, then control click to deselect the rectangle. Use the rotate tool and rotate your project. If necessary, shift the project to position it in the rectangle representing your cnc table. Create toolpaths for your project. Position your material on the cnc table and run the toolpaths.

Does that make sense?

Would this be done on the STL file in the cad program, or could it be done in Cut3D, VCPro?

Thanks for your comments.

HH in this case I think you would be best to rotate the model in the original CAD program so it imports in the right orientation into Cut3D.

Thanks,
James

Thanks Bob and James,

With this information pretty sure I've got the orientation issue under control.

Thanks
