UK - cutting model ship parts out of swiss pear

Post by timtom1 »

Dear All,

I have created some model ship frames in 1:48 scale using Autodesk inventor and I have 3 blocks of swiss pear but I need somebody to 3D CNC them for me?

Would anybody be interested in doing this?

Thanks

Tim

I can't help you with this, but I hope you post pictures of the hulls ... this is a great project.

Do you build the models from offset tables?

Hi

This is an example of Frame 3 fore in Inventor.

Paul I am not sure what offset tables is or are? I've just got an idea in my head and wondered if it was possible?

Tim, before seeing the images I was thinking that you were producing half-hull models, and was wondering what you used to get the shape right. offset tables give the shape at various stations along the hull, but I don't know much more than that. I was hoping to carve a Bluenose some day.

Echo, as in the Russian sub, or Echo as in the British survey ship ? Where do you find plans like this?

HMS Echo, I bought the Echo cross section kit and converted the plans into DWG then into Autodesk Inventor
