I have a pattern that I want to cut that is going to be a check fixture for a piece of molded glass. The pattern is about 8 feet long and 2 feet wide and has a compound curve that is about 2 inches over the span of the pattern.
This part is straight forward, the issue is that I want to be able to cut a grove around the perimeter 1/8th wide, 1/8th deep about 2 inches inside the outer edge of the fixture.
Running the entire finish path with a 1/8th ball nose accomplishes this but the machine time with a pattern this large with a 1/8th bit is to long.
How can I run the entire pattern with a 1/2 inch ball nose to speed up the machine time and then change to a 1/8th bit and run the grove pattern.
Any help on how to do this would be good, its my first time with cut3d.
Thanks
Randy

Re: Cutting a grove into a 3d profile
The only way I can think of just using Cut 3D is to make two separate .stl files. The second one would have to be like a frame with the 1/8 slot in it.
