I know that Cut3d can generate a boundary vector for creating the profile toolpath but other than saving the toolpath is it possible to capture the 2d boundary vector for use in vcp to create a pocket for the 3d part to fit in? I have many 3d stl files but none include a 2d profile vector and would be great to be able to easily create this vector without resorting to other sofware. I am pretty sure that aspire can do this easily but not sure about cut3d. Any tips or ideas appreciated.

When you import a tool path into V-carve it comes in as a bitmap. You can use the fit vectors to bitmap and it will create an outline of the part.

Hi there,
Thanks for the reply and the info, i didn,t realize the TP would import as a bitmap and that could prove useful. I did upgrade to ASPIRE yesterday though so issues like this that i had been pondering have become less important now that I have the new found power.
