bear 3d
bear 3d
Hello
Can anyone tell me how to cut a bear out. I'm looking to do a full figure of the bear ( front back top and both sides. Is this possible? I have a shark from rockler and I use vcarve pro 6. I ready to pull my hair out on this project.
Thanks
Rod

Re: bear 3d
You're going to need Cut3D or Aspire to do a full 3D model like that I'm afraid.
You could do a relief type model from VectorArt3d.com using the free machinist software and VCarve but that would only be the front half and wouldn't be a true depth.

Hello
I had cut3d, i purchased a model from vectorart3d of a bear walking. I wasn't able to do the full bear though. I would buy cut3d again if I could get this to work.

Re: bear 3d
With reliefs models you are just getting the side shown in the pictures. They are not complete 3D models like a believe you are picturing.
With some models you can use Machinist or Cut3D and set up mirror sides as I did with the Great White Shark model:

But as I look at the walking bear models on the VectorArt3D site, these would not be suitable for this.

Re: bear 3d
Do you know where to find a suitable bear like the vector 3d one?

If you want to do a full 3D you'll need a file like one of these - http://www.turbosquid.com/Search/3D-Mod ... ammal/Bear
Re: bear 3d
I purchased a bear from there and it was 3ds file but I can't get it to load. Any suggestions?

Do you get an error message when trying to load it?

Re: bear 3d
Are you trying to load it into VCarve Pro? You previously said you had Cut3D, but could purchase it, again...
You can't load a 3DS file in VCarve.

I tried in cut 3d. I don't get a error, it just won't load.

Re: bear 3d
Don't know what to suggest other than sending an email to support@vectric.com and see if support have any ideas.
I can load 3DS files into Cut3D without problems so maybe it's something to do with that particular file.

http://artist-3d.com is the one I've used the most.
Here's a free file from there that loads in Cut3D ok for me.

Re: bear 3d
I found this bear on Google 3d warehouse and using Google Sketchup was able to change it to a "3ds" file and was able to import it into Aspire and after some modeling I did a double sided cut. I also checked to see if I could load it into cut3D and I can. Gary
Re: bear 3d
The one I was using was from turbosquid. When it downloaded it was a zip file. when I unzip it, it goes to a rar file. cut 3d doesn't open it after it is unzipped.
