First post, looking at buying cut 3d

Post by simso »

Hi, I sent an email to the Vectric team about a week ago with no reply.

So hopefully users here might be able to help me out.

Ive just pruchased a cnc laser scanner and a commercial cnc atc router.

I own and run a musical instrument repair business here in australia.

My goal is to scan in broken guitar necks bodies etc and then reverse engineer them out to the cnc router to machine up.

From what I can see cut3d will do the job, and Ive downloaded a trial version already.

Howveer the scanned image in from the laser could do with some editing or assembly, I could not see any opportunity in cut3d to edit the imported stl. Can the stl be edited

Steve

Cut3D is only for machining there is no facility to edit an STL (or any other file type) in it.

As far as Vectric products go you would need to look at Aspire to accomplish that task.

I would also sugest looking at aspire. It is a very powerful program, with much more that just stl.

Best of luck

Aspire would be the way to go. Once you have a cnc the possibilities are endless and Aspire will do most everything you can throw at it.

Hello Steve,

I am afraid that we do not appear to have received your email.

Did you spell Vectric the same way as in you post above?

Our company name is Vectric, I am afraid that we will not receive the emails if this is
spelt any other way.

As Adrian has mentioned, Cut3D will machine an STL model, but I am afraid that
you would not be able to edit STL files with Cut3D.

Cheers,

Mark.

There must be a problem then with the contact page of vectrics website, I sent another email again yesterday via the website regarding having post processor issues for my machine, no replys or acknowledgement of email.

Hello simso,

Not entirely sure whether you are receiving my emails, so attaching modified post

I hope that this helps.

Mark all is sweet now

However an improvement if I could.

To run any job on the syntec controlled atc, you need to load tool 1 to clock the new job in, all atc tools are offsets from 1. Ideally at completion of job and before it goes home, it would change back to tool 1

Currently at completion of job and before starting next job I have to do the following

Change monitor to manual command, select monitor function, select mdi input, enter mdi input t1, select ok, select execute, then after tool 1 is loaded, select manual controller, manually drive machine back to home.

Any chance you can modify post processor to include a final tool 1 change before finishing

So, no folow ups, so I tried to amend the post processor to accept a final tool change, but all it did was cause the machine to stop on the spot when it had finished the job

Anyone know what I did wrong, the bold section is what I added in to try and get a final tool change, didnt work

Hello Steve,

The syntax of the line looks OK.
Try moving the line above the G28 line.

Cheers,

Mark.

So the G-code has worked flawlessly since marks post, thanks

I now have a need for aspire, I have purchased cut3d, I need to be able to output as a wrapped rotary file,

Does anyone know what I would need to have done to the original syntec post processing file to turn it into a wrap file.

Also, how would I make a trial run piece on the trial version of aspire.

Sorry for all the questions

Regards

Steve
