Problems with the Z dropping deep after slicing a 16" m

Post by stevenree »

Well after spending many hours trying to figure out why after slicing a 16" deep model into 8 -2inch sections and running my tool paths I would get this...........driving my z down past the table to a bottom that did not exist!

The solution was to open the slice and drop the Z box to bottom of the plane then backto the top and hit the APPLY button...... fixed!
Is this a flaw in the software???????????
Both me and my cad guy were stumped!
But alas for I have conquered and I hope this helps any-one in the past and future, we will be cutting a kayak plug tommorow 18Ft long by 23inches wide and 16inches deep tommorow! wish me luck. This is for a thermoform project we are doing and it is the first cad to cut we have ever done!
I will post pics ofour success.

Hi Steve,

What you are seeing is a bug and we'll take a look at what's going wrong.

As you said, Toggling the origin from Top to Bottom and back to the Top of the Material
fixes the problem. Also increasing the Material Size dimensions to be slightly larger than
the actual size of the model should fix the problem

This project sounds very interesting and I'm look forward to seeing how you get on.

Thanks,
Tony
