I first cut one of these in 18mm Birch Ply about four weeks ago for one of my competition entries.
That one being 12" tip 2 tip. Cutting firstly with a 6mm ball nose and finish with 1.5mm ball nose.
Total cutting time 1hr 30 mins.
I achieved the desired effect I was looking for so I decided to try one four times larger. Because it is 4x larger I thought I would cut it with a 4x larger tool.
So cut this one in 1 pass with a 6mm ball nose 10% step over at 4m per min.
Total cutting time 1hr 40 mins.
PS. James,
Any chance of posting my number from the "Prize Draw" so I can cross it off my "Not My Lucky Number List"
And well done to you Guys who got the "Goodies".
Lets hope you make use of such a splended set of relief files. We are all waiting to see those pictures of finished projects.
Cheers,
Warren.

Warren,
that looks really nice, one of the things I like about curved 3D carvings is the way the grain looks in the surface of the aprt. In this case the ply layers combined with your finish give a stunning effect. It is also interesting to note how you can scale up the size and the tooling so that larger pieces do not need to take much longer to machine than smaller parts. Thanks for sharing, James
