Eagle In Cherry
While I was out of the shop my partner carved this eagle in cherry. (I'm allergic to cherry) The design is 6"x12". He used a 1/8" end mill for the roughing pass (14 minutes) and an 1/8" ball nose with a 10% stepover for the finish pass (27 minutes).

Glazing
I've been asked about how we get contrast in some of the carvings were are doing. The finishing technique is called glazing. We don't do the finish work ourselves. We work with several different shops who do our finish work. (Our goal is to just do carving.)
The Jan/Feb 1996 issue of Fine Woodworking had an article on "Glazing Cabinet Doors".
