As is all of your work, very impressive!
What kind of machine are you using to cut at 360ipm?
Where in South Dakota are you?
Regards,
Joe

Re: Bison with texture in bloodwood
hello
looks good... i never used bloodwood...i used apple, pear, cherry walnut... and some special work i used the "dark, black" walnut, and mainly i used beech, and oak...... on hungary was impossible to buy simple way exotic woods...
i guess it is the virtual speed... practically just like a car it can not take the "bend" with full speed...
you might remember someone posted letters that corners were rounded... that is the speed... also you can raise the passes, some thicker lacker will hide...
the program accept your setting, but won't do that... the indicator shows always the real speed...
also if you "flatten out" the model that will result you can cut with higher speed... i mean, if the "slopes" don't exceed about 8-10 deg the speed can be just like a flat surface...
i think to mill a flat surface just circleing... can be 4-500 inch per min... of course your "picture" will be a photoghrap... but you can cut with 500 inch per min...
that's why the vectorart models pretty good all... they have height, but everywhere they rounded as they can milled easier than with sharp corners...
shopbot use rack and pinion.... by this for one step on motor the router "goes" longer way... with screw need more step for one unit...does mean in case 5mm screw, for 200 step divided for 5 mm, while rack and pinion, with 200 step might goes 10-15 mm during 200 step... also the y axis on shopbot "sit" on the X rail... so it more rigid like other conventional built machines...
also shopbot driven on x the both side, while a machine with screw only on the middle...
thanks
viktor

Shopbot PRT Alpha 48.What kind of machine are you using to cut at 360ipm?
As Viktor pointed out, in 3D work you seldom actually move at 6ips when there is a lot of Z motion.
Southeastern part of the state near Sioux Falls. The shop is 8 miles north of HartfordWhere in South Dakota are you?

After applying gel stain. I used a walnut and a cabernet gel stain.

Re: Bison with texture in bloodwood
A little more cleanup, a coat of lacquer, and a better camera. About 4 more coats of lacquer to go...
