Cut the mermaid out of Oak, looks better than the picture, but I don’t like the pronounced grain. Going to try her again with cherry.

Re: Mermaid
I actually think the grain looks very nice, but I guess it depends where it will go and what finish you plan to put on it.
Nice smooth work though,
Cheers,
James

Re: Mermaid
I agree, I think it looks nice the way it is. I wonder if Vectric could put the wood grain in their preview? I'm sure they can, they have done other amazing things!

Re: Mermaid
Thanks for the complements and tips everyone. Cut a smaller one this afternoon.
Tried cherry this time.
Few errors, but wife really likes this one so she is a keeper.
This one smaller about 8x7
After a quick rub with wipe-on poly and 30 seconds on the buffing wheel.
Short video of cutting, if you watch it turn DOWN your sound.

Re: Mermaid
They look fantastic. I can't believe that finish, what machine do you use and what cutting speed?
If you want a particular type of grain in your preview just take a pic of a flat board with the grain pattern you want, and add this to the textures folder. I have a few different wood types like African Sapele which were not in the original texture library.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Thk, my machine is a Romaxx HS1, from www.romaxxcnc.com.
Great little machine.
I was cutting slower than I normally do on this one, the finishing bit .0625 and speed 30 ipm with a 8% step over.
