VectorClip3D and .stl files

Post by ronald4418 »

I'm trying to load .stl files from VectorClip3D.com and I've tried Freemill from Mechsoft. I've gotten that far, now do I need to save the files to a particular post-processor that I can import into Vcarve or do I do something else that I haven't considered?

Ronald,
It can't be done right now, but in the next version of VCP you will be able to import a .stl file that have been saved as a .V3D file using Cut3D by Vectric. As far as I know, no other file extention will work except for .V3M which is VectorArt 3D Machinist file. VA3D will not open .stl files. -AD

Ronald,

For reference, VCarve Pro will only import 3D Toolpaths saved inside Cut3D,
PhotoVCarve and Vector Art 3D files. There are no plans to import files from
other software products.

Tony:
If someone gives me a .stl file then I will need to put it into Cut3D then I save it in its native format then I can import into VCarve Pro. Is this the way it is?
Thanks.

Hi Rusty,

Only the Toolpaths in a Cut3D file are imported into VCarve Pro 4.
Not the 3D STL mesh / data.

Toolpaths / files from other CAM software cannot be imported into VCPro.
