Brazilian cherry crucifix

Postby Xxray » Fri Jun 17, 2011 2:20 am

Couldn't get an indoor pic that does it justice, will try a natural daylight shot tomorrow.
Got a plank of Brazilian cherry for fairly cheap, about 10ft x 7x1". Very heavy, dense wood, holds details well and breath taking grain patterns.
This ones about 10 x 6 ".

Here is a daylight pic, I'm impressed with this cherry wood.
Also cut a 2ft cross out of MDF, more or less as an experiment. MDF is dirt cheap, cuts great, but the downside is you have to paint it. Don't know if its the smartest thing I ever did using gray primer, but its pretty smooth after sanding. I'll post back when and if I ever paint it, I'm pretty bad sometimes leaving projects like this on hold, especially during summer.
